About

Hello and welcome to JS Design. I formed JS design six years ago in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I originally did design work for artists including websites and advertising material but as word got out the business slowly expanded into small businesses and a host of other media. I now do print, web, photography, and I am currently working on adding video capture and editing to the mix.

I began programming in 2001 to get my first photography website up and running. I taught myself HTML and created what I thought was the best website ever. After about six months I was no longer impressed and began taking classes while I was already enrolled at the University of New Mexico. I learned a lot in those classes but nothing near what the real world of daily grind has taught me when it comes to programming. I am constantly working on getting better at the languages I already know and working on learning new ones when time permits.

In 2008 I co-founded the online photography magazine Fraction with Albuquerque artist David Bram. The magazine turned out to be quite a success in the first 18 months and we turned out 9 issues and six group shows in that short amount of time. In October of 2009 I left Fraction to have more time to make art. I now sometimes get an hour or two a week to do just that.

I am based in Charlottesville, Virginia near the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. In my time off I will be outside hiking, biking, rafting, and sliding down mountains with a snowboard attached to my feet.

If you want to see more of my work you can download my PDF portfolio for 2009(it’s 5MB so it may take a few seconds) or visit my art photography website.
